Jesus- A Vital Necessity by Edward B. of Uganda

A Vital Necessity Jeremiah 29:13 (AMP); Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find me when you search for Me with all your heart.

Why is it that some people seek for God but do not find Him? Is it because God does not want to be found? No. He said in His Word that He has not called the seed of Jacob to seek Him in vain (Isaiah 45:19). Rather, God has terms on which He is to be sought and found. Some of these terms are revealed in our theme scripture.

If a man must find God, He must seek Him as a VITAL NECESSITY. In our pursuit of intimacy with God, we are not to seek Him as one among many options. God is not an alternative, He is the answer. If your spirit is not awakened to the infallibility of this truth, you will continue to make prayerless prayers, which are prayers people make to simply satisfy their consciences that they have prayed. The Message Bible version of our theme scripture puts it this way, “When you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.”

When we seek God, we must stake our very existence on Him. That is what it means to seek Him as a vital necessity. FURTHER STUDY: Isaiah 45:19, Psalm 119:2

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this truth. I am a seeker of the Master. I do it like my life depends on it because it does. With my whole mind, body and spirit, I seek You and find You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
