Patience in Affliction by Patrick F. of Sierra Leone

Patience in the Midst of Affliction

Patience is the ability to stay calm and accept a delay or something annoying without complaining. Affliction has to do with the pain and suffering that comes with it.

James 5:11 says, Behold we count them happy which endure. Yes, have heard of the patience of Job and have seen the end of the Lord. In my Bible, James 5:11 falls under the heading: Patience and Endurance. Here it is seen clearly how brother James made reference to Job’s patience in the midst of suffering. His friends accused him falsely that it was due to his wrong doings and that of his children that brought forth his suffering (Job 4:7-8,8:4-6 & 20,). Job endures all these accusations faithfully trusting & waiting in God patiently for a change (Job 13:15 ,14:14). We see clearly in chapter 42:10 what the Bible says about Job– The Lord turn the captivity of Job…… and the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. As followers of Christ, we need to emulate the example of Job’s patience in all afflictions we are facing now, whether in our relationships, Businesses, Finances, Family, Ministry, to name a few. We need to step up our faith and patience and endure to the end and be fully persuaded that God will bless our latter end immensely like He did for Job.

In conclusion, our total trust, Patience and Endurance, plus our yielding to his word as recorded in Psalms 34: 19 will bring about the miracle we are expecting in the midst of suffering.

Prayer: Lord, help my unbelief in the midst of suffering and grant me Patience, Faith and Endurance to depend upon you always, Amen.
