Prioritizing Godly Character
From North Africa Regional Director, Emmanuel, “The training in Kante, Togo covered WILD’s vison, what we do, why we do it and how we do it. After explaining the need for spiritual leadership due to a worldwide crisis of character, the trainees were invited to give their definition of leadership and character.
We always based the foundation of leadership on character, that is the reason why we always like to start by character whenever we go for the first time.
We use our local illustrations to help them see how character is formed and the sponge illustration. From our house to the county, from the county to schools and everywhere we spend time, what we see, what we listen to, the friends we make, even the church we go to are some major areas where we form our character.
We asked a question as to know how people from Kante can be recognize at any place, KOUNDE Leah said: “Kante people are violent and come together quickly in violence” So this character influences them a lot and they don’t make any progress in the society, because people are afraid to connect with violent people. This opened the door for us to go deeper in Galatians 5 to talk about the fruit of the flesh which are typically the manifestation of the flesh opposed to the fruit of the spirit which demonstrate Christ living in us and therefore display His character in our daily lives. We also insisted on the fact that WILD wants to help leaders to grow spiritually by developing a closer relationship with God so that leaders can live, talk, act and do whatever they want, but do it in a Christ-like manner.”
